Once from a vet but the dagger had mismatched crossguards and the grip had an aluminum eagle inlay, too many red flags and I walked away.

In addition I would like to know how many members own a gau marked chained SS currently?

Such daggers are legit, believe it, or not !

Just a word of opinion: the marks being referred to are SA-Gruppe codes, not "Gau marks." Such marks are commonly seen on the reverse lower crossguards of SA and NSKK daggers which were part of the original 1933-34 production.

          Cheers,

          Br. James

Out of 350 plus motel buys and 55 plus years of collecting, I have NEVER gotten an M36 with Sa marks from a veteran or his family.

Well, if that was bad luck, how about 10 M36 daggers from vets in a little over 2 years during that period. I think I will keep what ever luck you call it.

Did the vet say he got it before the end of the war?

I asked a couple of specific questions to try and solve this question in my own mind.I am not asking people what they believe or what they think.I see a lot of them on this and other sites for nobody owning one yet.

He did but I never believed him and like I've said, I have yet to see a nice SS Gau marked with a good fit between grip and crossguards, for some strange reason , they are all horrible, just take a look at the one from Reibert-Austria, it doesn't get any worse, horrible fit.

The one nickn(on the gau M36 marked thead) is really quite good unless you think a couple minor chips make a parts dagger. If that is the case we are all in trouble.

Pictures taken at an angle are very difficult to evaluate, it would be nice if Nick could post pictures of his dagger sitting flat.
