    Hindenburg Grosser saber.

Another saber in the sword photo bomb.
This one has been posted before. These are better pics that do it justice.
The shield attached to the grip is by Godet. There is a pinned post about this badge somewhere on the forums.
The only mark on the massive quill back blade is the date (?)
    Enjoy the intrinsic beauty.
Comments and info welcome as usual.
    Enjoy!

What a great historic artifact. Tony, Thanks for sharing this rare beauty with us.

Any chance of getting the provenance story on it ?

Tony, you are posting some great swords! While I am not really a blade guy, I have been buying Imperial swords attributed to Prussian Guard units. So, nice to see such unique pieces.

                      Thanks guys.

The provenance on this saber is short and sweet. I bought it off a table at the SOS several years ago. TW was looking at it also but didn't pull the trigger on it. It was a one looker for me.

The badge attached to the grip is an honorariam (?) of sorts. There Is a thread about the shield and it's urkunde on the forum. I don't have the link right now. Apparently these were given (awarded) by v. Hindenburg to staff officers and others for their service attached to v. Hindenburg in the Great War. Maybe someone can find the thread and /or add more info.

                      Tony

Will Z...here's a cavalry saber I posted a while back. Note the Totenkopf device on the back strap.
                        Enjoy!
