    kriegsmarine dagger review

    Good evening Sirs,
I have always been interested in naval and police daggers... and all other daggers in general. I think they display great. I find myself constantly reading and learning about them, but I find experience seems to be the best judge. I've gone through numerous threads and learned quite a bit. I attached several pictures of the one in interested in purchasing, these are the best pictures I can do as of now. The thing that caught my eye was the portepee, it looks oddly clean, but hey maybe it was kept in well storage
    Thoughts?

Hi Robert, im not liking this one much, its hard to tell from the pictures but the bands could be the pressed out ones seen on post war brass scabbards and the eyelets are unusual for a navy dagger, the rings appear to be a bit on the small side as well. The grip wire on Hollers is normally the springy copper colour type, the twisted brass is seen but is not twisted as tightly as on this one. Holler manufactured there own parts but none of the fittings on this dagger appear to be Holler. The portapee I would say is also post war but not 100% sure on that. Not one I want in my collection.

Well that's a bummer! If it was just one thing, like the portepee, I could probably deal with that. Thanks for the info Bulldog! There are going to be several other daggers at this auction, so hopefully one of them will be all original.
      Thanks again.
