However, Joking aside, someone at sometime probably spent a pile of authentic cash on this monster.

( I got the joke. 'Well...can't the scabbard be possibly original? well then, how-a-bout the scabbard screws ?' )

Overall…the whole thing looks like crap…so my question would be. Why does a special order presentation degen look like $#!*? The answer is….a real one wouldn’t! I'm sorry for who ever bought it.

For whatever it's worth, I have a loose blade with what appears to be the same etching. I believe these were made up in Europe in the 70s from left over genuine SS sword blades. I think T. Johnson had told me this was the source and at one time and he had several in inventory for sale.

These Pack pieces came out in the early 1970s. Engraved Army Daggers and other engraved pieces, all utilizing this style Pack TM.

The knots a good replica, not quite the right shape and colour but the best ive seen to date.

Grip has all 13 wire strands so better than most repro's, we really need better pictures. Theres something about the SS runes I don't like, they are slightly back on themselves, the circumference looks bigger and the background has been painted black.
The positioning of the runes is placed slightly higher at 4 and a half which is the later Dachau trait so typically we'd need to see a Paul muller blade ('No maker' or 'PMD')
Oh dear this is EP&S. Bare in mind EP&S isn't a recognised SS officer sword maker anyway.

I would be really interested to know if it has the octagonal SS stamp under the cross guard or on the scabbard throat. (my guess is No?)

Its not one to buy, or one I would want to own anyway

Good eyes gentleman, I knew my gut feeling was right! Wags and Matty you are both correct EP&S is not a maker of the SS Ehren Degen.
