    Paul Weyersberg Luft

I just purchased a Paul Weyersberg Luft dagger. I have a couple of questions about it. It is much heavier than my other Luft . Did Paul Weyersberg make a white handled one and did they make one with an ivory handle? How could I ID this one as having an ivory handle? Thanks

      Hi Larry,

Welcome among us! I agree with Schlange that a photo of the piece would be most helpful but, in general, ivory dagger grips differ from bakelite/plastic grips in that bakelite is fairly uniform in color while ivory was a living substance and, as such, it discolors unevenly due to the layers of enamel that build up over years and by handling. There are also textures often found in enamel which appear like grain in wood.

      Cheers,

      Br. James

              Hi Larry,

From what I can see, this piece has a bakelite/plastic grip, not one made of ivory.

The makers mark does not word Berlin but Solingen as it should. I will post some better pics. The Spanish copies I have seen are marked Berlin.
