From a pretty nice collection that hasn't yielded a clunker yet, but this is a new one on me and must admit, I would have expected better detail so questioning this one!! Your thoughts?

It may have been polished at one time, so details are rather soft. I can't see anything fake about it. However, others may see something else.

The pattern is a period etch & something I've seen plenty of times on these axes & I believe it to be correct.
The detailing is something that made me look twice but I think Wags is correct, the axe head may have been polished up which resulted in the softness of the features. I wouldn't worry & think it's OK as far as originality.Comment
