    84/98 with strange marking

    Hello,

I have found this 84/98 bayonet 2nd pattern with this strange number on the crossguard. The scabbard appears Polish and I will think for reuse for the Polish army ...
    What is your opinion ?
    Thank you

Just from looking at bayonet itself appears to be WW1 Prussian 84/98 can't read the date appears to be missing flash guard reblueing is usually indication of ReichWher use scabbard I am not sure about you might be right on it numbers on crossguard can be some type of regiment or other's country's markings. All in all nice piece. timothy

      Hello
WWI 84/98 in a polish scabbard. This bayonet has been reworked and reissued by the polish army.

Yes it could be so as the grips are beech wood, most real reworked by Polish in interwar period, teoretially it could be used too by Germans in WW2, there would be interesting deciphere the serial on backside of scabbard mouth. b.r.Andy

            Hello
If it had been used by the german during WWII there would be a flashguard and there would be no reason to be in a polish scabbard.
