loose grip - Eickhorn Army Dagger

I just purchased an Eickhorn army dagger and the handle is a little loose. It comes apart easy... I was thinking about sending it to Wittmann to see if he could fix it but I'd rather do it myself. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

A paper washer under the pommel will work

Why is it loose? Shrinking, bad threads help us out.

You see this from time to time should be minuscule though factors such as grip shrinkage and the leather buffer worn out are common factors.

I'm not sure exactly why it's loose. I bought some rubber washers at Lowe's today to see if I can make them work. I'll give an update later.

No Rubber...if you want a Project Get a scrap of thicker leather and cut one out...But as stated the paper washer will work...The Rubber may cause a reaction you may not want.

Problem fixed !! I went to Lowe's and bought a rubber washer....trimmed it down and make two cuts to the inside so it would slide down over the tang... basically fitting inside the bottom of the grip. I agree that leather would be a better option and I might replace it eventually. I appreciate all the advice.

                Update:

I thought I was finished when I posted the pictures but I noticed the screw on the scabbard with hitting the cross guard and the pommel was crooked. I realized I had the grip on backwards and also had to trim a new washer because it fit different when I turned the handle around.

Thanks! I don't plan on doing anything to the outside... just the blade ..

There is a speck of something on the pommel I'd like to clean but it's not coming off.

I"ll post some more pictures in this thread or start another tonight.
