What a sad event. Sword blades, unlike daggers, come in different lengths. So finding the correct length, Krebs maker, will be a daunting task.

Perhaps you should post the photos of the the damaged parts, and perhaps it can repaired.

More SS officer swords have been damaged due to someone who thought that it shouldn't be so hard to disassemble.

So very true; they should be left untouched.

I take it that your brother-in-law's vandalism was not a deliberate act of spite? Just asking.....

          sword save

it was purchased in EU, he lives in ITALY, he will not ship the blade to me here in the States since, it is an illegal weapon to ship. and he is extremely fearful of legalities so, he is removing the blade and shipping rest to me
how can I SAVE this beautiful Krebs sword?

Have him ship it to another EU country and have them ship it to you.
You do not have to declare the contents when shipping within the EU.

              ss save

I know.... I have tried absolutely every way possible over the last 6 weeks to secure this. bottom line after many, many attempts and efforts I am now in this situation. the only thing I can do now is to try and save my sword which does not have the Krebs blade

You shouldn't be contemplating this, have him sell it, or you sell it, then buy one in the states that is whole ! Seems crazy to destroy an SS Officers sword!?

This is truly a ridiculous situation.

As a collector, I would never want to possess a handle rather than a complete piece - especially knowing that I'm the cause for that.

To many special pieces have been destroyed in history much later due to abuse and lack of respect. I would rather someone else have a complete piece than be the cause for such destruction.

                        Sword save

This, and the sheath were all that was shipped to me .
After months of debate , options, more , my brother in law stated illegal to ship a weapon. So, he cut off the blade

Any help and advise on a possible solution and repair
                        Much , much appreciated

Well IMO You would need to find either Krebs degen blade/sword, or a plain unmarked blade, and have a restorer like 'Cogwheel' fit the blade to the hilt. There is a different configuration of blade attachment between SS and Police blades. However, I believe it can be done. Need Cogwheel to confirm this.

Now the other solution is to re-weld it. (if you still have both parts.) However, you will always see the weld, as I don't know anyone who can re-crossgrain the blade finish to actually hide the weld.

Again, I'm no expert on rehabs, but IMHO at best you will always have now a 'Parts sword'.

                          Good Luck.

This is really sad you should have found a way around it or told him you didn't want it and looked for another. It's ruined now either way you turn its at best parts

I would make the idiot pay for the sword.
