Help Please IDing this portepee

I just acquired this from a veteran's son (along with a few other items but don't know much about this knot. Help IDing it would be most appreciated. Any thoughts on ballpark value would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Here's a view from a little further away. The strap is unadorned blues leather (similar in color to the acorn cap) and is maker marked (name, city, etc.) with an ink stamping on the inside of the strap. Thanks again for any help.

Hard to say for sure since it's missing the slide, but could be either army 4th or 9th Cav. squadron.

You have a Luftwaffe Faustriemen missing the slide as Reichsword indicates. It is an enlisted Luftwaffe knot because of the blue/grey leather strap. The markings on the strap may also indicate the unit as they often do.

I also meant to ask if it was used on a bayonet or a sword?

These Faustriemen are typically worn on a bayonet. Since Luftwaffe enlisted men did not wear a sword it would have been worn on a Luftwaffe S98/05, S84/98, or a long KS98 bayonet.
