        Hi Roy,

No, I have not seen a piece with the motto etched onto the same side of the blade as the maker's mark/RZM license code...but I quickly add that I have not checked with Ralf Siegert's massive reference work on SA/NSKK daggers either. It is probably accurate to remember the old adage "Never say never!", though dagger quality and accuracy were tightly controlled by the RZM inspectors on-site...which is comforting when considering the never-ending debates on whether a specific piece was made during the TR era or not.

I would not consider such a piece to be "transitional" since cutlers always tried to use up spare parts before creating new parts or ordering them from sub-contractors. It is possible to find solid silver hardware mixed with plated steel in a piece genuine to the period, though I would not want a piece with such a blade as this one in my collection, simply because it is so out-of-step with the known and accepted principles in use during the TR era.
