Hoerster made a Bahnschutz: That TM has been seen, but more usually the two line address TM.

I believe Barry nailed the explanation completely. The "textbook" Hörster Bahnschutz blade will show the earlier, 2 line maker mark. I've never seen one with the later logo but that's not dispositive in the least.

We do know Hörster made Bahnschutz daggers so it's possible this dagger & it's blade are original but I suspect you would have more trouble selling it down the line.

Barry, that's a killer crossgrain on that Hörster.

            Billy G. et all:
Horster DID make an early Railway with the oval Horster TM. Photos attached are of this type. This particular dagger is in the hands of the original veteran's family (I tried to buy it and they would not sell). You will note that the crossguard is hand finished as seen on earlier TR peices in the pre-war years. This dagger is a silver type beauty.

But the mark on that one is not as dark like on my pictures.
Also yours look the mark is edged in not like the one i show.

So it may be a good one but hard to tell. What will a fair price be confused if i want to buy it or not.
Not 100% thumps up don't want to spent so much money wen it turns out to be fake in the end.

All I can tell you is the one I posted is for sure correct and shows that one with the oval TM DID exist in the period. From that you will have to make your own decision about the one you posted.

This dagger is offer at Militaria321.com. The seller is a known fake seller. The buy now Price is 800 € that is more then a red flag.
                      Best regards

I also purchased two with the double oval Horster from a Vancouver area Vet who liberated a Rail depot. That mark is 100% fine.

If it's real I'd love to have it. Much more rare than the ubiquitous SS dagger.
