I got this in a bunch of military items from an old collectors estate. It is from the 60's-70's right? Measures about 7 1/2 inches long.

Actually, they were produced in the early 80's as letter openers; I believe a French collector had them made up. The MAX Show Charter Member plaques featured them.

Skipper's response is right on the money! I have owned one of these charming etter-openers for quite a few years; I originally purchased it from Tom Wittmann, who advertised it as a souvenir of one of the MAX Shows.

I also agree with Fred's response: this is neither a fantasy piece nor a 'fake,' but a reproduction...and there is quite a difference! This piece does not pretend to be anything other than what it is: a letter opener cast in the likeness of a miniature SA-Feldherrnhalle Dagger.
