    Air Force sword SMF aluminum

    Hi there,

from a friend I have an offer to get a Luftwaffe sword can buy. But as I edged weapons in the matter is not so well versed am 1000%, I would like to once again seek some expert opinions on the piece of you and would be happy to have plenty of information and opinions on this. So at first glance, that piece is actually the state pretty good when I turn the handle, the leather, the aluminum fittings, the guard so look at me. The blade is a little stained seems to me with the manufacturer SMF and Luftwaffe acceptance stamp, which seems strange to me, however, is the knob anyway? Is perhaps been replaced or a copy, because there's gold HK is still intact, which is on the guard not the case, and the knob was not as sharp coined / made / appears somewhat fuzzy ?!
What does this tell you about the piece (hope the pictures are a bit recognizable and helpful), which is a good sword and Air Force as belonging together or tinkered piece or perhaps a copy? And if it's good, what would be a realistic purchase price (no discount price) for such a piece?

    greeting

I see no obvious red flags. In Germany at Kassel these would be circa EU 1000 - 1200 if you get a decent dealer.

      Hi Frank,
thank you for your opinion, what do you think is why the guard the swastika no longer gilt and at the pommel still as good? That irritates me a Little because of togetherness.
      Best regards

I have seen this before so I am not overly concerned. A close hands on inspection is the best option.

Pommel is replaced, and handle/scabbard are re-leather.
          Also, whole sword is cleaned.

          Not for my taste.

            Hello Schlange,

what you see that the leather is replaced in the scabbard and on the handle?

            best regards

Leather on grip and handle look somewhat dark to me but I would need brighter photos and also see the scabbard seam to make better judgement.
I also agree that the rig has been cleaned and the pommel doesn't match the rest of the hilt, but you already already admitted your suspicion to that.
Not a piece for my collection just based on the pommel and crossguard not matching. I'm also a bit of a fanatic though.
