Luftwaffe Officers Dagger?

Hi all,

This is my first post here so bear with me. I mainly focus on American militaria and reenacting (I live in the Netherlands), but now I got hold of the following. Yesterday I received this dagger as a gift from someone at my dad's work. I believe it is a Luftwaffe Officers Dagger? The man I got it from said that his dad had it in his possesion for at least 50 years. My question is, is this thing the real deal? And if so, what's the value?
