Picked up a nice eickhorn 1695 with the large knot, trouble is the vet tied it up in a silly way, been there for 50 years and on trying to correct the tie the leather has torn in several places, isthere any way to glue or otherwise mend the leather and perhaps reinforce it? Thanks Greg

While there is something to be said for keeping the original knot with the sword, it sounds like this one is too far gone to bother with - espeically given the relative availability and affordability of original sword knots. I'd take it off and replace it with an original example in better condition.
