Yes, looked as if it had never been removed. I sold it to Harvey Riley along with the same Policeman's Shako about 10 days before he died.

A wonderful array of rare & beautiful clamshells, many thanks for showing them to us.
I agree that there are numerous different hilt shapes, each with subtle differences. I would suspect that there were 4 or 5 manufacturers that made their own Polizei hilts, perhaps more, with some of the smaller makers purchasing parts from them. This is easily seen in the case of Clemen & Jung. When their mark is seen on a Polizei bayonet, almost always the hilt will exhibit the distinctive eagle eye of an Alcoso hilt.

Guess I never saw this thread as police bayonets were more often posted on the police forum. Here is the brass/gilt one I used to own. Never was able to identify the unit(s) to which they were issued. Though they might have been the Prussian Wasserschutz/Rhinepolizei.
