An interesting piece, mostly in nice, original condition. The revere crossguard mark indicates that this dagger was produced for SA-Gruppe Mitte in late 1933/early 1934, for the very first orders received. The grip and the crossguards fit beautifully and the scabbard and hanger assembly are just the way we like to see them. But then there's the blade...?? It may be the photographs, but I can't see any cross-graining on either surface of the blade. This would normally indicate that the blade has been over-buffed, but the accenting of the motto and the maker's mark are dark, sharp and clear -- not an indication of the blade being reworked. So what are the alternatives? Could this be a new blade added to this piece in recent times?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that blade. You can't see the crossgrain because of the way the photos were taken. I have taken hundreds of photos of my own minty blades and this is what they can look like. No buffing, reworking or any other tampering...
