Dagger of Maj Walter Koch - Eben Mael?

Fellow collectors, may I have your opinion about this LW 2nd Model etching. The dagger is an original LW 2nd Model w/o any question. My question is what about the etching?

I have had two alternatives answers asking some experienced fellow collectors:
    1- Be careful!
    2- Yes it's OK!

Do you think that this dagger has belonged to Major Walter Koch?
    Best regards
    Olof

Eagle on the blade is definitely not the Luftwaffe WKC type.
      Be careful.

        Thank you Schlange
Here is a same type of dagger with provenance. You can see the top two pictures from Sorry I cannot see any major differences between the etchings, maybe the head of the eagles. However this type of acid etchings were never completely uniform, not even etchings made by the same manufacturer.

Can you please point out to an old man what is different?

Olof, you van not compare WKC Luftwaffe eagle with Voss Luftwaffe eagle.
(If I remember correctly, WKC was never produced the second model Luftwaffe dagger with etched blade, but it is a dress bayonet with Luftwaffe etched motifs.)

            Very interesting information Schlange !
You might be correct on this point, however the detailed pictures of LW eagles are all three from LW 2 model. The top 2 are 100% genuine from the same 2nd model LW.

Has anybody seen an identical dagger like this. If it is a fake then some similar daggers should be out there somewhere?

Every aspect of this eagle is different. The eagle is just so sloppy. Keep in mind I am working with photos of blades that you supplied. Maybe this will help you see the differences....

The point made IMO appears to be a valid one, and this is the third presentation dagger named to a prematurely deceased highly decorated Luftwaffe combat veteran I've seen on the forum just recently. But more to the point with what I saw in the images was the off-putting bluish cast (no criticism intended) which made it harder for me to focus on the etching itself. With the etching the primary thing that sets this dagger apart from standard ordinary examples, and the color corrected images probably not too far off - but also understanding the limitations of digital photography that may look entirely different when seen "in hand". And the third one unarguably pushed beyond a reasonable (digital) limit for making an absolute judgment. But still posted because the area seemed to be problematic with a lesser degree of resolution, still needing IMO some followup images to better examine the quality of the motto's etching. FP
