Not a good idea to use WD-40 on a plated blade... it may get under the plating and remove the whole thing.

I use (softly, softly) a little simichrome and rub in Renwax to get the rest and to give it a coating to protect from future moisture.

Ended up using the never dull.
Blade is pitted up pretty bad.
The internal pieces and blade, spring, button, cross guard, and the oval
crossguard fitting are stamped 18. except the pommel.
Since this is a 3rd reich upgrade I guess thats OK.
There is another # on the engraved piece, seems cast into the piece.
      413? 275?

      Thanks for all the help

      George

Made a movie based on the sinking.
