Unknown sword

I've got this dress sword that has German characteristics, but I can't place the eagle, so probably foreign?
Any clues to origin?

Just from appearances I would say postwar. And they were well outside of my areas of interest - with my immediate recollection of seeing a crest something like that on Iraqi guns. FP

An iraq crest is far different...

It resembles the US crest the most...but can't read the shield or banner because of wear.
Any other opinions?
