    WW2 Officers sword/Land Customs?

Picked up this sword today its a Herder, its on page 86 of Angolias book, its an unattributed model.
This one does appear to be silver plated, although most has rubbed off. Could it be a Land Customs Officers Sword?
    Cheers Neil

I would rather say that the gold gilding was a final finish.
All indentations on these one sabre have a preserved some of gold gilding.
And Richard Herder Solingen Army Sword did not have a quality gold gilding like Puma Solingen.

I know you would hate it to be anything out of the ordinary, but the silver is on the brass coloured parts not the other way round, if the silver parts are rubbed with wire wool (under the crossguard) the silver comes off, if the brass colour parts are rubbed it simply polishes it a little. Page 87 in Angolia's book describes Herder Swords with silver plated national emblems. Its also stated in chapter 16 that some models of customs sword where silver plated, a WKC 1016 is shown in this configuration, I see no reason why other models or makes may also have been used.

As well documented custom sabers were striktly gilded.
Silvered Lion head sabers (as the one shown here) were for elite guard members, mostly early leaders or later on for leaders who haven´t got the honor Degen.
          Greetings, daggers.

            Hi Daggers
Nice to get a positive review, something rare on waf these days, the reason why its a lot quieter than it used to be.

Jenko, nice example of a scarce Herder. I owned two of these over the years and surprisingly both had a silver plated eagle on the langet. A extra step in the finishing process, one was also black enameled around the eagle, real made it stand out,
though I don't know if it was period done.
By the way, custom sabers were often silvered, example being theWKC #1016 .
              Thanks for sharing, neat sword.
