    Double Etch Bayonet

Recently picked up a double etched bayonet what I found interesting is Johnsons has one identical. Same etch same Regiment, same distributors mark. At first I thought the same bayonet but no 2 different bayonets. Is this often seen, would a few guys have gone and bought their dress bayonets to get a discount from the supplier? Any thoughts?

    Robert:

The thinking is that etched bayonet salesmen or distributor reps would go visit training camps and try to sell unit dedication etched bayonets.

If they were good salespeople, they would walk away with many sales of the same etch.

That is why one would see several etches to the same unit surviving even today... these were parade items and would have been saved by the serving members as souvenirs of their time in service and of the comradeship of the training unit.

    My 2 cents worth.
