RAD Hewer w/ Number for Opinions

I haven't seen a RAD Hewer with a number like this on the scabbard and hewer, is the number authentic and period correct, and if so is it a unit number? How does this number affect the value? Thanks for the help with this.

Nuts have a different age color - compared with screws.

Unit marked RAD hewers are scarce, looks quite nice overall.

                  RAD hewer

I had thought that FU stood for leader, and that they were the early pieces for the officers and such.

                    Help clarify the marking

I have also heard that the "FU" was a reference to "leader" as well, but I would love some clarification if it is the distribution point, or a reference to leader. Thanks for all of the comments, please help with this question of the marking.

Had nothing to do with Leader - I know that in the early dagger reference books there was some mention of the Fu indicating Leader -In actuality it represents the RAD "Beschafungs Ampt" or in English the Official RAD acquisition office - like the RZM for the SS/SA/etc items. There were other acquisition offices in Germany and I have a Hewer marked with Bn for Bonn-
Heres a picture of both a dagger and the leather hanger with these markings, note that the Leather hanger has the B.A. Fu indicating the Beschafungs Ampt(Acquistion office).

                        Horst,

Great hewer but really an impressive showing of the standings & their meanings. Super grouping, thanks for showing it.

Thanks Billy,- Guess its time to put that old thought to bed about the "Leader" - funny that one of the dagger gurus hasent put it in writing ?

typical in all respects as to the numbers size and uneven stampings etc. I see some occasionally with pretty questionable looking stamps......not yours though!!!
I'd love to see some close ups of the hanger mounting area, very unusual repair if it is not original manufactured.

                              New pictures of repair

Here are a couple of good pictures of the repair or modification of the hanger loop. I'm thinking it is period work, but would like to have some help with it. It's pretty skilled work, and the small round "bearing" at the top of the loop still spins like it was probably designed to.
                              Thanks for any help.
