Bill I am a little suspect of this bayonet's markings. Markings did appear on bayonets in the late 30's but on such a post 1942 bayonet the odds are very very small.

Thanks so much for the thoughts.

I appreciate any information at all!

I'm assuming that it was meant to stand for "Reichsbahn" ?

        Or...?

I mean, my knowledge of service bayonets is ZIP !

bill i believe you are correct on what the marking was for...i am not 100 percent sure the bayo is post 42 unless i see further pics but the blueing and bakelite is forsure that vintage. send me some pics at
bcnhq@XXXXmchsi.com take the x's out. It could be a rework from the 30's but would have to see it hands on or some good pics..thanks!

RBD Br, should be Reichs Bahn Direktion, Breslau, the bayo was probably refinished, note the red color on crossguard, its any other markings on Your piece, the red plastic grips looks like new to this piece? best regards,Andy
Few other pieces that are in comparing with Yours have wood grips and have smooth prewar finish.
