I just love these honest SS dagger rigs.

Nice over all look, love the way the colour of the handle blends with the ageing in the vertical hanger & patina. Good, as said honest dagger, hope you one day have a name & research for the owner.

                          Hi Randy,

Have you contacted Rob McDivitt and/or Mike Constandy regarding researching the SS number stamped to the lower reverse crossguard of this piece? Both Rob and Mike are professional researchers and may have sources to locate even an SS Man of the enlisted ranks.

As you said, this piece appears to be from the earliest orders for SS sidearms, via the Munich SS Distribution Center. Best of luck!

                          Cheers,

                          Br. James

SS Mann No. 125 285 is unidentifiable at this time. Closest known is SS No. 125 286. Just one digit off! Such are the frustrations of SS membership number research. But your SS Mann may be found someday. Enjoy you piece of history.

IMO it's still worth contacting McDivitt and Constandy with this number; neither of them charges for their service unless they come up with something positive, and when they do, it's always worth it! IMO, of course! My thought is that, even though this number belonged to a member of the SS enlisted ranks, he may have belonged to other organizations where he listed his SS membership number, and in than case, his ID has a better chance of showing up in a broader search of other archives.

                              Best of luck,

                              Br. James
