June 30th, 1934. The Röhm-Putsch. At least one hundred people died maybe hundreds. I don't know about you but when that kind of news would hit my ears, I'd be getting that signature rubbed out ASAP by anyone with a grinder, neatness be damned!

Can you show a close up of the tip please? It looks like the blade has been retipped. How long is the blade exactly from crossguard to tip?

Here's what I did in this photo. I took out another early SA Dagger by Ambronn. Laid them tip to hilt with the Roehm on top for you to see how the two blades compare in size. Almost identical within a milimeter. I would surmise that when the blade was de-Roehmed, it was weaponized to some extent. I don't know about you but if I heard many of ilk were being killed and this SA sidearm was in a tight spot my only defense, I would want it to be as much of a weapon as possible. What roughness there is to the tip matches the scratches to the Roehm signature.

Although slight, still not factory, so a re-tip. Good eye ivbaust.

Neither is grinding down the signature. I'd say if that was your goal the 'real deal' original signature is your quest. In my mind combined with the history of the moment, I'd prefer this one. A paranoid SA member favored perhaps too much... Awarded the Roehm signature SA dagger.

While this is possible, I think the point is simply that tip damage, no matter how slight (and this actually not as slight as some that I notice from time to time) does affect the value of a blade, whereas a Rohm grinding is more "accepted" and thus doesn't affect the value. While you may agree or disagree with this, these are facts.

Facts I would argue... This is emotion. I "feel" one way, you another. To me this was all done at the same time. You don't have to like it as much as I do, that's anyone's prerogative.

I was simply saying that regardless of how much you or anyone likes it and whether or not it was done period, it still hurts the value as a matter of fact, not opinion. Its a nice dagger and certainly has character, BUT would simply be worth more with an untouched tip; simple as that.

This maker is always a crowd pleaser.

With that I would have to say I agree.
