    my new gravity knife

Hi, want to show my new SMF Gravity knife, can anyone tell me what year this one would have been made. I no its a early non take down. Marked 462.

It would help to see the LW acceptance stamp on the spike. Otherwise it probably pre-dates 1943 and that is about the best that one can guess.

It is interesting that 30 years ago and less many of the recognized experts of these type of knives insisted that the take-down models preceded these non takedown types! I don't know what assumptions that are being made now will also be turned on their heads in 30 years from now, but I bet that there will be a few at least.

If the luftampt mark on the spike is a Weimar eagle standing atop a "5" then it is a Type I FKm from late 1937-early 1938. If it is a "stick" eagle with a "5" on its belly it's a type Ia FKm made from 1937 into 1941. Whichever it is, it looks like a nice one. Congratulations on a sweet find.

Good looking one. The number does not indicate manufacturing date, but the eagle do(as stated by djtshc).
                Regards,
                Mats
