    Massive Hunting Dagger

This is a recent woodwork pick up. A massive German hunting knife , blade is 3/8 inch thick and 10 inches long. Maker or distributor marked G. Laute Berlin. Anyone ever see such a beast before or have any additional info. All help would be greatly appreciated.

          G. Laute, Berlin is a fairly scarce distributor mark to find on any type blade. I've seen it once or twice only before this knife, most notably on an Imperial Fire Official's dagger.

Very unusual looking sidearm, thanks for sharing.

            Billy,
Thank you for the additional info. I'm partial to hewers so when I had the chance to purchase this knife I was very please.

It's an impressive looking blade so I can see how it would appeal to you since you like hewers. I think the obscure distributor's mark adds appeal, I love unusual maker & distributor marked blades.

G LAUTE from BERLIN, was an official supplier ("Hoflieferant") of the Imperial Court of GERMANY, particularly with Huntings daggers...Like the one posted some days ago by French collector Francisque...
