...A neat find from this morning, an early Hammesfahr H.J. knife w/ "swimmer" logo AND HJ motto, in very good, worn original condition. This is the first example of this early makers mark I've come across. It's in overall very good shape, blade shows some light scratching from sharpening and a few nail-catcher nicks, but otherwise is in nice shape w/ a hefty, solid nickel hilt, and the motto is still quite clear. The early sheet steel scabbard has a small split near the throat (on the cutting edge side), but still retains a good percentage of its black paint to the reverse, whereas the front is mostly dark patina to the original steel. The leather belt loop is also fully intact. It's getting pretty tough to find these HJ's in good shape, especially early examples such as this one, so I was happy to have found it. A few pix below...
