Horrible fake Luftwaffe everything looks off leather completely wrong ,leather is very hard to fake early leather has a distinct grain and was tanned naturally not with chemicals

Not necessarily true, the correct leather for Luft pieces is available.

If you have never owned the 55CM You wouldn't know ...that piece in pics looks pretty spot on...REALLY Spot on. The Leather can be fudged

The intended point with the first link I posted (the BDM/DJ/Olympic etc. knives) was that even what should be obvious postwar fakes can be aged to try and look like legitimate TR period items. With the discussion link posted below in December of last year having some guys sign off as OK on another M 1936 fake that had been aged (but not OK'd by everyone). Which I think goes to the point Barry Brown is making about being careful even with items that appear to have some age - but are in fact artificially aged. FP
