Your 1937 Durkopp S84/98 bayonet has been extensively reworked postwar. The bayonet has had the blue removed and polished and the scabbard has been painted. The flashguard has been removed and a new pommel, with no slot or press stud, has been affixed to the hilt. Quite a lot of work to convert a bayonet into a knife. Someone had a lot of time on their hands.

Got one too.... Also from Denmark. Once heard that backend was exchanged due to regulations in what was allowed to use when hunting, scouting etc. It was not allowed to be able to mount the bayo on the rifle. If the story is true I do not know :-)

It would be nice to known how is it realised the new pommel? the grips could be origin there. Maybe the new pommel was welded in or it was only fullfilled the holes and reshaped, interesting that it was done on matching bayonet.

The grips on mine are original Bakelite. Also this part of the Bajonet seems original.

This is how my bayo look

Thanks, as You could see the hole for cleaning rod, i assume the pommel is origin, only the rifle slot and locking nut and press buton were welded to pommel and reshaped probably.
