SS Dagger Malsch Ambronn for review.

    Hi guys,

would like to hear some opinions about this dagger.
Comes with original belt. What could be a good price for this set?

    thank you in advance.

Is it SA or NSKK? The scabbard and hanger look black to me, though the belt and the loop look like brown leather. When the NSKK changed to black scabbards in 1936, they also changed their leathers to black. Could this scabbard have been repainted during the period? Often NSKK members did that in order to continue to use their original daggers, and this piece bears the mark of SA-Gruppe Sachsen on the reverse lower crossguard.

The dagger is NSKK, black scabbard and hanger. Thats possible James or the belt isnt original to the piece.

I like it except what's on the blade? Malsch & Ambronn have always been one of my favorite makers and are known for their killer blades and beautiful black motto etching.

Looks like a little honest corrosion at the hilt . . . and the rest of the things seen in the blade may be reflection, as on my screen, it appears to have been polished mirror-bright. In one photo, some crossgrain is visible at the hilt - near the corrosion - but the rest of the blade still appears to be exceptionally polished to me. As JR said, nice rig . . . and the other attributes of the dagger are equally nice - even with the shrinkage at the grip fittings, and corroded scabbard. The Malschies I've had were certainly top-notch in the etch department, I agree . . .
