The model of the degen is M36, if that is what you are asking. The photo was taken by Neil Hardin of the Wolfe / Hardin, 3rd Military Collectibles

The first regular ss-swords was awarded in 1935.The early ones are most found with early maker-mark by krebs.Later ones are mostly unmarked swords ,but frequently seen with maker krebs.
Do you planning to pick up a one?

The first dated awards were in 1935 and that does put a question mark over the often repeated Model 1936 name of the swords - which are commonly called that as a 'collector's name'. And in his book as a matter of record TW uses the chapter title "The Official Model 1936 SS Degen".

But the German award document calls them "Degen der SS", with period other documentation using titles such as "Ehrendegens des Reichsführers SS", or "SS-Führerdegen". And it used to be that the German Police Degens also had the "1936" date attached to them. Until it was corrected by a specialist who gave the correct date (1938) to TW, which is what he put in the book acknowledging and corrcting earlier mistaken beliefs. FP
