    Large bayonet (?) frog

I'd be obliged if the knowledgeable among you could identify this frog which came to me with a DRK Enkisted Hewer. It had obviously been there a while as there is the oval imprint of the reverse langet on the leather.
It is 9" long and 3" across. The thing that puzzles me is that there is what I would swear was a Kreigsmarine acceptance stamp on the reverse, you have to look really closely to see a capital 'M' under the swastika. Is this familiar to anyone?

I have to agree, the frog doesn't look period German at all. Stamps definitely do not look legit either.
