unknown fighting knives ...

Hi, mates !

I´m collecting trench knives of WWI, fighting knives of WWII, and, "modern" combat, and, utility knives since a couple of yrs.

In my collection there´re this, particular, knives, nobody know´s, (so far ...), where they´re made, when they´re manufactured and, when they´re in use in which country´s Army ...

The measurements of this, five, knives:
overall lenght / blade lenght
287 mm / 162 mm
293 mm / 168 mm
289 mm / 165 mm
286 mm / 162 mm
274 mm / 168 mm (shortened hilt)

What I know for sure is, these knives aren´t "theatre made" !

Grips are secured similar to the WW1 Austrian trench knife, maybe there is an Austrian manufacturer. They are certainly not of British, American, French or German style.

Neil, in some publications this knife is considered as "Russian", or ,"Balkan-made" ...

If this knive´s really are Austrian made I´m wondering, that I never, ever, found one of these here in Austria, neither at gun-show´s or flea markets, stoop sales, or, elsewhere ...

One of this dagger´s I´ve got from Scotland ! ...

Nary a single one of my collector´s mates here in Austria owns one of this dagger´s ! ...
I also have a very skilled collectors mate in Slovakia, (an expert on Austrian-hungarian bayonets and other blank weapons of the Kuk-Monarchy), and he also has no clue regarding this knives ...

Anyway, let´s wait and see !

Maybe someone is able to open this "Pandora´s box" ...

... " this piece is almost certainly of Russian origin" ...

Otherwise, collectors from Russia are saying, my knives definitely are not Russian pattern knives !

A German collector own´s three of this knives, (one with metal scabbard), and he has no doubts, this type of knife was manufactured somewhere in Eastern Europe.

In my opinion this knives could have bee manufactured somewhere on the balkans actually.

The knife that you show looks to me like the Armenian Model 1940 Fighting Knife - these were manufactured under in contract in Russia.

Regarding the proof of evidence:
What´s the source of your information, this knive´s (might) be bulgarian, or, to be precise, what makes you that sure ?
