Higher quality fakes have been surfacing for some time now, and have gotten better and better as mistakes were corrected. With the one here making it’s earlier public appearance on WAF 11-16-13. (And possibly earlier other places - who knows?) But on 12-30-13 it was another M 1936 dagger that had some guys buying off on the item as OK - and others who were critical of it as just another fake.

With my point being that I don’t think that it’s going to be getting better for collectors if some of the trends that we see now keep going forward in time. FP

If you own about 7 of them and been collecting them for 25 years there should be no problem at all with these new fakes. It's all in the details that the majority of people don't know.

A strong statement for someone who doesn't seem to have a strong track record...and yet is ostensibly an expert with knowledge beyond the common majority.

Kind of like yours on the CG Rohm dagger in his auction that you said was bad that was endorsed by Gailen David? So stick with RZM daggers and it is best for you to leave the big boy daggers to the big boys.

That Rohm wasn't right. Simple as that and I, along with others support that; Some publicly and some whose business can be hurt by stirring such waters. Furthermore, Just becaue Gailen vetted it or supposedly did, is not dispositive. In fact, Mr. Gailen has personally said to me, "I.....back in the days when I was more of a crook."

I don't purport to have 25 years of experience though either, unlike you...

At least I know RZM daggers I guess; maybe someday I'll be able to get an early M33 or an M36

And I stand corrected .That mint looking SS RZM dagger really is not the best reproduction I have seen as stated. The best I have seen is currently being sold on a well known dealers site.

I will not damage someones livelyhood by making judgement calls from pictures online.Like all of my statements I make they are nothing more than my opinion. Sometimes I may even be wrong.

hey there, want to know how to spot a fake SS dagger

                            1. Buy reference books, and study.

                            2. Go to shows, handle known real examples, then study. (the more the better) Hands on inspection is the key...

                            3. Develop a network of trusted fellow collectors. Try to spot real vs fakes at the shows.

                            4. Only pull the trigger to buy when you have figured out step 1-3

                            Its that simple........
