K98 Short Dress Bayonet w/ Wooden Grips Help

Haven't been able to find much on this particular bayonet. Has wooden grips that mimic the stag handled bayonets. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks[IMG][/IMG]

Not unusual and was done mainly during wartime due to lack of stag material and cost.

      Hi

Well, despite the not so great condition, you have yourself a nice example of wooden stag imitation gripped dress bayonet. I have a long and short one just like yours. Although they tend to suffer from plating problems as they were produced later than most other bayonets, they are still a valuable and unique addition to any collection. Well done there!

IMO it´s easier to find an Extra-Seitengewehr with "real" staghorn grip plates than an Extra-SG, showin´ wooden grip plates, imitating staghorn !

Thanks everyone! It almost looks like some of the handle was burned.
