Question about an SS marked bayonet/ dagger

    Hello guys,

A friend of mine recently bought this bayonet / dagger.
He discovered this piece has an SS marking. (W-SS)

Does anyone know more about this type of bayonet / dagger and of course the SS marking?
Who was using it and what should be the value of such piece.

    Thanks in advance,

    Cheers!

It's not my area, but reminds me on the German Imperial fighting knife.

Corect when steel pommel it should be WW1 piece or early Weimar, the W SS is a engraved by someone probably to higher the price, the frog looks like not proper. The scabbard should be have a knob or was equiped with leather strap, the button in pommel is probably nonfunctionable, is there slot for rifle attaching?

No way to tell for sure but in all likelihood, that lettering was not done in the NS zeit.

I agree... there is no legitimate reason for this knife to be W.SS marked in this manner. Another decent edged weapon that has been ruined with fake markings.

            Hello guys,

Thanks for the information so far.
I told my friend, and he will send it back to the seller, because the seller statted it should be a 100% good piece.

            Thanks again!
