I not always agree with you but, indeed, this time you are right. It has cleaned fittings. Something you better not do with Army daggers...

Thanks to all for the comments. Yes, it does appear at one time to have been cleaned. I see residue in recessed areas such as inside the guard. It is still a lovely example of a WKC Heer though.

No, that's no flash IMO. You see clearly the dark patina in the recessed places. Of course it is not a disaster but many collectors like them not cleaned. Sometimes the fittings look dark as coal. (see picture)
