                    Not sure.

Really? The copper tone of the grip Eagle made me wonder. Also, I thought the scabbard didn't look right. The bottom of the scabbard is not a nice oval as I am used to seeing but squared off and flat (not by damage but by design).

Anyone else got an opinion on this?

                          Hi Richard,

I like this piece, too. It's a later-made dagger, dating from 1940 according to the blade mark, and the maker was Karl Tiegel of Riemberg b. Breslau -- not one of the more common manufacturers of SA and NSKK pieces. The condition is quite good; the finish on the grip eagle was worn away by handling, probably during the period, and this handling has worn away much of the silver finish plating and exposed the base metal. The overall plating on the hardware is in very good shape, as is the blade, and the tip ball fitting is in much better condition than what one finds on many a similar dagger.

                          Hope these comments are helpful.
