1 st Pattern Luftwaffe by Eickhorn

    Gentlemen

I would like your comments on this 1st Pattern Luftwaffe Dagger by Eickhorn. It has a few issues but I wondered if it was basically an OK example of Eickhorn manufacture?

As ever all comments are gratefully received.

    Many thanks

    James

The tip has been reground and there is some splitting of the leatherwork round the scabbard

No makers marks on the chain and it has been repaired. Are the screws securing the bands usually placed on the back like this?

Very correct looking worn piece with a very interesting fastening method to the scabbard fittings?? Not saying FAKE in any way, just quite unique...like to hear from others on it. Kevin.

I would question the Eickhorn TM with the period of the fittings and chain connectors. If anything, I would have expected to see the double oval style TM instead of the 35 to 41 style.
Also, the double S connecting links are not expected on an Eickhorn with this TM IMO.

I agree with Ron. The blade should have the double oval Eickhorn TM since the scabbard construction suggests the dagger was made for the DLV.

I own 8 Eickhorn DLV/Luft1s and none of them have this type of connector nor have the scabbard bands screwed on.

So, the connectors and the screws give me great pause.

                  Just my opinion of course.

                  John
