I don't own a bunch of edged weapons beyond pretty good examples of the three military branches and a few swords so I would appreciate some guidance on this. It's being offered to me in trade for a couple of items I haven't got much into. That said, it's a bit beat up thus my need for some advice on what it may be valued at.

Klaas Heer for comment/guidance

I noticed on some other Heer/Klaas threads there's an asterisk stamped on the ring bands of the scabbard which the present scabbard lacks. Again, not being a big dagger collector, the dumb question might be would the lack of the astrisks mean this scabbard isn't a Klaas scabbard?
I guess the follow-on question might be is this thing a parts dagger generally or a post war piece?
All comment appreciated. RC

RC well the crossguard is a rare type it’s an Alcoso type-2. Never seen a Robert Klaas with an Alcoso crossguard and yes Klaas always put asterisks on the scabbard bands 98% of the time. So when you add all this up not an army I would be happy with in my collection. Crossguard is real nice example of the Alcoso type-2 thoughLast edited by WW2-Collector; 10-31-2013, 07:22 AM.

Agree with Tom, rare and interesting Alcoso second Guard with a personalization to boot! But unfortunately not a guard seen on Klaas blades. The scabbard is Eickhorn through and through..the type B pommel is seen on later Klaas daggers and is the only component that "fits". Parts piece almost certainly...Kevin.
