    Gottscho S1914(?)

Got this Gottscho SM the other day. Is this the correct scabbard for it? How common are these sawbacks? Have been trying to "do my homework" since I got it in my hands but lack some definitive answers - if there even are any such.

And what about the troop marking "Geb. B.12"? Gebirgs...?

              Nice bayonet Wolf.

I think your green scabbard is one of the ersatz type, I believe the factory scabbard would have a finial (ball) at the tip and probably not be painted. Don't think it's a problem, I have a similar scabbard on an S14.

The unit markings look a little larger than average. I looked in Jeff Noll's book and didn't find "Geb" listed as a regimental mark. I've seen mountain troops listed as Jäger regiments, not sure about "Geb" in WWI. Is there another mark under the "B"? I think I see a small "15" on the photo. The guys on the Imperial forum might be able to give you info. on the mark.

                Hello
Very interesting bayonet. It is a S14 made by Gottscho. The scabbard is for a german ersatz bayonet. I am going to try to find the meaning of the marking.
                Here is mine.
                Regards

Thanks for your interest and answers! Another forum helped me with the marking; Gebirgs-Batterie 12. This would seem logical as that unit was part of the Ostsee-division which was in Finland in 1918 (and that is where I got the bayonet). On the reverse it is marked N22, weapon number?
