Though I'm not an expert it looks like a parts dagger with the roman-numeral stamped cross guards that should belong an an M33

From the way I see the blade, it looks too thin (narrow at width). Before considering this one I would want a measurement of width at the blade base.

I already have some thoughts on it,,
The stamped III on crossgurad is no problem, as some 36's came like this.
the scabbard repaint, depending on collector, could be OK with that,
However, a fake 36 style blade on a 33 dagger with repainted scabbard ,
well,,it would not be for my collection.

I'm not saying this one IS a fake blade, but it looks to me like it needs a closer examination. The narrowness of the blade is a red flag, but there is the motto, the steel color, all that need a much closer look.
I bet there is a lot of 'play' in that scabbard throat.

      JMO's - for what's it's worth.

The seller of this piece evidently thinks that this is a 'parts dagger' as he states in his description, at least as regards the scabbard:

"M36 SS officers dagger with no chained scabbard added.
The scabbard is original but with post war black paint."

As I understand these SS pieces, those without a maker's mark/RZM license are from the M-36 series, though this one includes an SS M-33 lower crossguard bearing the Distribution stamp of "III" -- and this dagger has apparently been taken apart in the past since this stamp would have been carried on the reverse of the lower crossguard, not the obverse.

        Just some comments...
