              So-called "generic Eickhorn" Heer dagger.
Your dagger is heavily cleaned and then painted over. (background of crossguard)
Personally, I avoid such a combination dagger, because Carl Eickhorn even in late pariod still had some standards in the production dagger.
Portepee looks ok, but I would love to see some more photos of dagger hengers. (with black light test)

The hanger and portepe i was told have been on this dagger forever.

What you call paint looks to me like patina, and there is no under the portepe.

                Am i wrong?

How can you see that it has been heavily cleaned?

HMMM, have seen Eicks with Generic guard but the scabbard and pommel do not look to be Eickhorn either...I would avoid this one personaly. Sorry, Kevin.

Remains of orginal black patina, are visible on the pommel, the hole around the swastika, scabbard channels.
Black Herr dagger patina can not peel like paint.
Portepee has subsequently been staged at the dagger, maybe he was on it, and removing after, I do not know.
For example portepee which has always been on the dagger, is cinched with a dagger, is not loose as yours.
Dagger hannger fabric, look a little strange.

                    Regards
