Forestry or what dagger

I picked this piece up this weekend along with 2 NCO swords .
My question is this piece considered a forestry or hunting dagger ?
It has no wildlife or hunt scene , just the standard honors showing what looks like a lancer helmet and chest piece other side has shield crossed cannons and lancer helmet.
Blade is single edge 26.750 inches overall length. Maker is P.D.L.
Stag handle either has a small repair or has been filled in because of a missing emblem.
This came back with a WW2 vet but looks to be Imperial era.
So what is this piece consider to be classified as???

With acorns instead of hoofs and a military scene instead of wildlife wasn't quite sure.
