    K98 bayonet

I'm having a devil of a time finding any information on this bayonet I picked up today and would appreciate any help identifying the maker, it is stamped at the top 451. One side marked ccf44 the other side 5498 K

      bayonet

I didn't mention that the code on the blade is cof not ccf. It is not a sharp stamping.

Thank you John, you are a saint. I kept coming up with china communist forces and scratching my head as its a stamped blade.

You have K98 Bayonet, produced in 1944 by Carl Eickhorn, series H, No. 5498.
These bayonet was remodeled after the war, by some other state, (re blued, new serial number, flash guard is removed)
It looks similar, to the Yugoslavian M98 bayonet type B.

Its probably a yugoslavian postwar rework.

So it was not produced by Germany nor used during WW2?

Thanks Rancid, I picked it up at the Toronto military show for 75$ as it was a decent price and I have always wanted one. The strangest thing is that the sheath is marked 2123 and the hilt is marked 2123 but the actual blade is marked 5498. I guess it would make sense that it was reworked after the war but it's neat that it's kept its second stamping sheath.

                  best,
                  B
