    Does anyone recognize this sword?

    Hi gang!

I picked this guy up this morning from the son of a vet. He said his father sent this home from Europe. I'm having trouble figuring out what it is.. any ideas?

Not in my area, but Italy comes to mind as a place to look as the source. With perhaps a little more certainty if that is a recessed area in the guard facing the point where a thumb could go. FP

There is no thumb cut but with your point in the Italian direction it looks to be an Italian m1929 NCO sword.

        Thanks!

Matt, The angles of the pictures posted make it harder to tell for sure, but I think that it probably does have what I was trying to describe (admittedly not doing a very good job with the description). With a link here showing the earlier Italian Cavalry Officer's sword Model 1873 that has the design feature I was trying to describe in use (4th image down). But you have the sword in hand, so it’s your call at this point if you say that it’s a misinterpretation of the images posted. Regards, Fred

Yes the stamp of maker could be for Eredi Gnutti Lummezano.
