Strange Edged Weapon ??

Well, here is a mystery to me. Could anyone please tell me what this is?

It measures approximately 17 inches and comes in a very nice fitted leather scabbard with belt loop. The wooden grip is hollow and extends into the cup shaped upper blade. Lower part of the blade becomes flat and has a Very sharp point.

Maker mark with eye logo looks like "GOLDENBURG". I am not even sure it is German.

If one of the fellows out there can identify this item, I would greatly appreciate it.

Oh the blood would just rush out with that one snuck in between the ribs. It's a nasty one. Is the grip hollow also?

It looks like a sampling spike used to stick into bags of grain to sample the contents. I have seen similar probes used in the Customs service.

Just a possibility.

That makes sense, and would explain the thin wall construction of the main body of the artifact. FP
